TIP IN THE NEWS

We are a group of specially trained citizen volunteers who are called by police officers, fire fighters and hospital personnel to provide emotional and practical support to victims of traumatic events and their families in the first few hours following a tragedy

TIP SERVES THREE MAJOR PURPOSES

1) Unlike any other human service agency, TIP volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are authorized to respond to the scene within 20 minutes at the request of the emergency first responder (EFR). This rapid response enables the police officer, firefighter or emergency room personnel to be "freed up" to respond to other cases knowing the citizens in need are getting the support required as noted on follow-up evaluation.

2) The second major purpose is that traumatized children, adults and elder citizens are receiving proper emotional and practical support by a thoroughly trained TIP volunteer.

3) The third enables community citizens who have a strong desire to donate time, effort and energy to the community the ability to serve as a TIP volunteer.
